 How It Works
An automated tube auger, which extends from an outside hopper into the Coal Furnace firebox, transfers stoker coal onto a rotating cast iron burn head. When the water temperature drops to the low limit setting, the auger drive motor feeds the coal onto the head and air is injected through the fine slots of the stoker head producing an intense flame. The heat rises up through vertical flues with spiral inserts to ensure maximum heat transfer and efficiency. Within minutes the intense heat brings the water up to the high limit setting of the Coal Furnace and both the fan and the drive motor stop. The glowing embers on the head remain dormant until the water temperature falls to the low limit setting. Meanwhile the water is pumped to the various buildings 24 hours a day. Hot water pumped to the buildings can be universally installed to almost all heat sources by use of a heat exchanger. If a building has forced air heat you will need a water-air heat exchanger mounted in your plenum. Other choices include; water baseboard heaters, in-floor radiant heat or combination blower/fan exchangers. Every set-up requires a thermostat system to maintain a constant temperature in your building. If you are not contemplating on having backup heat, then you should use your existing heating system. The heat that has been transferred into your house cools down the water and is returned back to the furnace to be heated up again. |
